After politically turbulent years, it seems Sri Lanka is entering into a more stable period with the election of H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksha as the new Prime Minister of Sri Lanka. With the election of the new President H.E. Gotabaya Rajapaksha in 2019, the SLPP has obtained great victory at the General parliament Election 2020. PM Mahinda Rajapaksha is the 2 time former President of Sri Lanka and this is the 4th time he has been elected as the PM. Coming from a Political family Mr. Rajapaksha is an Attorney by profession and was first elected to the parliament in 1970. Following the death of his father in 1967, Rajapaksa took over as the SLFP candidate for the Beliatta constituency and was elected to Parliament in as the youngest Member of Parliament at just 24. He has held many positions from Cabinet Minister to the opposition leader. He was elected as the PM for the first time in 2004 to 2005 and then contested for the Presidency and won.
