Japan shocked the Rugby world on the field and off the field at 2019 Rugby world cup. 2019 Rugby world cup was hosted in Japan from 20 September to 2 November in 12 venues all across the country. The opening match was played at Tokyo Stadium in Chōfu, Tokyo with the final match being held at International Stadium Yokohama in Yokohama. This was the first time that the tournament had taken place in Asia and outside the traditional Tier 1 rugby nations. Japan shocked the world when they beat Rugby giants Ireland (19-12) Scotland (28-21) and Samoa (38-19) in Pool A reaching its first semi-final in Rugby world cup history. Unfortunately, the fairy tale run came to an end by the hands of the eventual champions South Africa (26-3) but Japan by then has won the hearts of a Grateful Nation and Rugby world itself.

Our chairman Mr. Jagath Ramanayake who is an avid Rugby fan and former college rugby captain attended many games including the final and also invited friends to attend the games. Many have complimented Japan for being an excellent host for the world cup and congratulations to South Africa winning the 2019 world cup 31-12 beating England. Runners up were New Zealand All Blacks.
