RamaDBK President assists to the independence day ceremony organized by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo.

The 71st Independence Day of Sri Lanka took place at the Kotani Hall, in the center of Tokyo, on February 4th 2019. More than 400 Japanese officials and Sri Lankan expatriates gathered to participate to the ceremony organized by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Tokyo. The president of RamaDBK, Mr Jagath Ramanayake, a prominent business person in the Sri Lankan community living in Japan, was assisting to the ceremony as every year.

After the hoisting of the Sri Lankan flag and the singing of the national anthem, religious representatives of the Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim and Christian clergy prayed for the prosperity of Sri Lanka. Messages from the President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs were read in all the official languages of Sri Lanka, and the Ambassador, H.E. Dammika Ganganath Disanayake made a speech stressing the progress of Sri Lanka as a democratic nation. Sri Lankan music was played and traditional cuisine was offered to the people attending to the ceremony. As a representative of the Sri Lankan business community in Japan, Mr Ramanayake was one of the few chosen persons invited to lit the traditional Sri Lankan oil lamp.
