Opening Ceremony of the Pagoda donated by RamaDBK president to the Lankaji Temple.

RamaDBK president, Mr Jagath Ramanayake, a prominent member of the Sri Lanka business community in Japan, and his family have donated a new Stupa to the Lankaji, a Sri Lankan Buddhist temple situated in Chiba prefecture, East of Tokyo. The Stupa was inaugurated a first time in August 2018, when the construction itself was finished, but there was still to accomplish important rites to complete the sacred monument within the temple. The ceremony was scheduled on Sunday October 28th, with the participation of the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Japan, His Excellency Dammika Ganganath Dissanayake, Sri Lankan clergy people and a large number of laities invited to participate to the event.

The ceremony begun early in the morning, at 7 o’clock, with some prayers and ritual preparations. The pawn, the jewel situated at the apex of the stupa, was unveiled at 10 o’clock in the morning, followed by chants, alm givings for the clergies and a meal for the visitors. At 2 o’clock, the annual ritual of the Kathina robe offering  ceremony was held with a sermon given by the Ven. Vathavana Sirisumana Thero. The day was closed with the chants of the Bodhi Puja.

A stela commemorating the donation of the Stupa by Mr Ramanayake and his family, written in Japanese, in Sinhalese and in English, has been placed next to the Stupa in the Lankaji temple.
