The Celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka were held under the direction of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Japan on February 4th 2018 at the Kotani Hall in the center of Tokyo. On that occasion, 750 Sri Lankan and Japanese nationals assisted to the ceremony. The speeches from the Ambassador of Sri Lanka and several officials were followed by blessings from religious leaders and by a concert of Tradition Sri Lankan music.
RamaDBK president, Mr Jagath Ramanayake, was also assisting to the ceremony. As Mr. Ramanayake is a prominent member of the Sri Lankan business community in Japan, and as he is a director in several professional associations, he was invited to light a Sri Lankan traditional oil lamp, an important symbolic gesture in all Sri Lankan celebrations.
