In this article, Mr Jagath Ramanayake is explaining how he has set up RamaDBK ltd 30 years ago, in year 1988, as a pioneer of the export business. At that time, as a 21 year old student, when the car auctions business was not as developed as today, he had to visit personally local used car sellers to check vehicles, take pictures and negotiate the prices. Later, in the 1990s, RamaDBK has been a pioneer in the use of Internet to sell and export new and used vehicles. Customers could check vehicles on the website and do transactions rapidly and safely. Soon afterwards, RamaDBK has also become one of the first members of the JUMVEA (Japanese Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Association), the only official association for used vehicle exporters in Japan, which members can only be serious and well established companies known for their honesty. Then Mr Ramanayake explains the importance of his efforts in professional associations, like the JUMVEA and the SLAEAJ (Sri Lanka Automobile Exporter Association in Japan), lobbying towards governments of target markets to promote less strict import regulations.
