RamaDBK was set up by Mr Jagath Ramanayake, a Sri Lankan national studying in Japan, in year 1988. Since then, the company has grown as a major exporter of vehicles and Mr Ramanayake has become an important member of the Sri Lankan business community in Japan. For many years, Mr Ramanayake has been a supporter of the Lankaji, a Sri Lankan Buddhist temple built in Sawara, near the city of Katori in Chiba prefecture, 1 hours drive east of Tokyo. Currently director of the Lankaji Development Community, Mr Ramanayake and his family have funded the construction of the new Pagoda, as he was advised by the chairman of the Maha Bodhi Society in Sri Lanka, the Ven. The inauguration of the new pagoda took place on Sunday, August 19th in the morning. After a ceremony and blessings by Sri Lankan Monks, some Buddhist relics were enshrined inside the Pagoda. The event was followed by alms at the temple later in the afternoon.

Many employees from RamaDBK had traveled from Yokohama early in the morning to assist to the event. RamaDBK had also lent a small truck for several months in order to help the temple build the stupa.
