Joso city flooded by a tropical storm

September is usually a rainy month in Japan as tropical storms are coming South to North from the Pacific Ocean. Japan has just been hit by the 18th tropical storm since the beginning of the year.

Heavy rain provoked the sudden rise of the Kinugawa river in Tochigi prefecture, one hundred kilometers north of Tokyo, and the city of Joso has been flooded as a bank of the river has burst under the pressure of the water. Japanese people are used to natural disasters and everybody remembers the consequences of the earthquake and of the tsunami of March 2011.
