The quality assurance and inspection director or KEBS (Kenya Bureau of Standards), Mr John Abongo, has declared that Kenya wishes to reduce the age limit for import vehicles to five years, the limit being eight years currently. He was speaking during the East African Regional workshop for clean fuel, that is discussing the future standards for vehicles, regarding environmental problems in East Africa.

The participants in the workshop have declared their intention to curb pollutant fuel emissions by 30% in the next few years and to fix some mandatory standards for import vehicles, as in European nations. The project means that East African will have to import more recent and better vehicles, but also higher quality fuels that don’t damage engines.

Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda are already due to switch to cleaner fuel from January 2015 onwards.

RamaDBK has been exporting second hand vehicles to Kenya regularly for more than 20 years. Even with an age limit for importing vehicles, RamaDBK can provide some very high quality vehicles for a reasonable price. Don’t hesitate to ask us for a quotation.
