Jade Buddha statue was brought to Soji-ji temple at Tsurumi Yokohama Japan in 12th – 21st July 2013. The statue is carved from a rare 18-tonne jade boulder known as the Polar Pride which was found in Canada in 2000. It was created by more than 30 jade sculptors from Thailand, Nepal and Australia. The Buddha images were brought to the city by the Jade Buddha for Universal Peace movement.

Monks from Soji-ji conducted the Buddha completion ceremony. Our president Mr. Jagath Ramanayake was also invited as a special guest for the ceremony with the Sri Lankan ambassador of Japan H.E Wasantha Karannagoda. And also Mr. Asanka Gurusinghe the famous former cricketer in Sri Lanka also participated for the occasion. It was a very powerful experience for all the participants.
