cars in Yangon

As of October 2013, there were 390,000 cars registered in Myanmar, around 50% more than in April 2012. This astounding increase of the number of vehicles has benefited mainly to Japanese brands, as 90% of the vehicles on the roads have been manufactured in Japan. Research company Frost&Sullivan is predicting an increase of 7% a year of the number of vehicles in Myanmar until year 2019, but the shape of the market is probably going to become very different. Since last year, Myanmar has appeared as the last frontier in Asia for large car manufacturers. Manufacturers from Europe and America have opened showrooms in Yangon and are making efforts to conquer market shares. Among them, Ford, General motors and German luxury brands as Mercedes-Benz and BMW have made the most spectacular entry on the market with large size showrooms.

The second trend will be the development of the new car market. While most cars imported until now were second hand vehicles, there is a growing demand for Brand New vehicles. Mazda and Mitsubishi Motors are planning to start selling new vehicles in Myanmar while Nissan has even announced it will open a car factory in the country in year 2015.
RamaDBK has been selling cars, trucks and buses for many years. Since last year, RamaDBK is employing a Burmese speaking specialist of Myanmar car market, Mr Myint Swe. Mr Swe will be happy to offer used and new vehicles from Japan to all customers from Myanmar. Don’t hesitate to call us or to send us some enquiries.
